Patatacones...

Here in Costa Rica we eat alot of fried plantains.

Our empleado showed Kortnee how to make them.
Here is what she learned.

First you peel a green plantian and slice it.

Then you put a little bit of oil in a frying pan.

Fry till lightly brown on both sides.  Then take them out of the pan and put them on a cutting board.


Then use a cup and smash each piece.



After you've smashed them, fry them one more time.
Add a little salt and...


...finally, you eat them!  We like them with ketchup like french fries.
